HUMAN MUSIC
A manifesto by Leonardo Salvaro
MUSIC IS MEANT TO BE DISCOVERED, NOT JUST PLAYED

MUSIC DISCOVERY IS LOSING ITS HUMANITY

Music is one of the most powerful human expressions ever created.
It shapes our memories, defines generations, and connects people beyond words.
But something is happening.
Music hasn’t disappeared. It’s everywhere, instantly available, on demand, on screens, in algorithms, in endless playlists.
And yet, the deeper we sink into this convenience, the more we lose the thrill of discovering music in a truly meaningful way.
There was a time when music traveled through people.
We found songs in record stores, on cassette tapes passed between friends, in late-night conversations that led to albums that changed us.
Music wasn’t just something we played. It was something we discovered, searched for, shared, and experienced.
But today, discovery has become more passive.
Songs don’t find us in unexpected moments.
We press play, and the music keeps coming, while the human connection to discovery fades. But music was never meant to be consumed this way.

MUSIC DESERVES TO BE FOUND, NOT JUST DELIVERED

Think about the first song you truly loved.
Maybe a friend sent it to you late at night, saying, “You have to listen to this!”
Maybe you heard it playing from an open window as you walked down the street.
Maybe it was a vinyl you picked up just because of its mysterious cover art, or a song that played at the right moment during a road trip.
Discovery isn’t just about where you find a song, it’s about how that song finds you.
A mixtape left behind in an old car.
A stranger playing guitar in a subway station.
A forgotten track buried deep in a record shop, waiting to be played again.
Some of the greatest musical moments don’t just come from what’s recommended to us, they come from the journey to finding them.
We need to bring that back.
Not to erase the way we listen today, but to add something more.
To make music discovery human again.

A MOVEMENT FOR THE FUTURE OF MUSIC DISCOVERY

This is not about nostalgia. It’s about what’s next.
Music shouldn’t just be consumed—it should be experienced.
It should be something we seek, something we pass forward, something that connects us to people and places.
We, music fans, are not against technology. We are not against streaming.
But technology should not diminish the human soul of discovery.
The future of music depends on us bringing back the passion, the curiosity, and the joy of finding music through people, stories, and experiences.

Because music is still everywhere.
It’s on the streets, in the hands of collectors, in the ears of the people who still care. It’s waiting to be found.
